OMG, Shoes.

The totes adorable Dan Pashman surfaced today with a video for Planet Money. He was strolling around Manhattan when he came across a line – a very long line, with some really weird breaks in it. At first, he thought it was the line for the unemployment office job fair, but he was wrong – it was a Jimmy Choo sample sale.

I’ve never been to a sample sale, but they sound wonderful – high end designer goods at ridiculously low prices. Prices that are apparently good enough to wait in line for two hours for.

But, if you have two hours to wait in line to buy shoes in the middle of the day, what do you do for work? I guess you could be a waitress or freelancer or have an especially cool boss, but I know that there’s no way I could duck out of work for multiple hours to score a purse.

I’m not sure if this is any kind of economic indicator or not, and if it is, I have no idea what kind it would be. If Memphis had sample sales, it would be insane.

I’m just glad that I get to indulge my long-running Dan crush.
