It’s pledge drive week for our local public radio station (WKNO, what what!), and I have a confession to make: I’ve been listening to my iPod on the way to work.
It’s not that I don’t love and support WKNO (we make a donation every year to multiple public radio programs in the name of this blog), it’s just that I can’t handle the guilt. It’s like they took lessons from my mom. If I don’t donate, the staff of WKNO – and public radio employees in general – will be so. dissapointed. in. me.
This is why I whip out my wallet every time Ira Glass starts to sound sad on the podcast about the ratio of people who download the show for free versus those who throw in $5 for hosting.
If you haven’t thrown a few dollars in the direction of your local public broadcasting station, you should. Times are tough for everyone, including public radio employees. Also, I miss Carl Kasell. Free Carl!

I will admit that I’d never donated to public radio before — shameful! But I remedied that just now by donating just enough to get a tote bag. Sweet.
This may be one of the best titles I’ve seen in a long time. Hope all is well with you two!
