Everyone, Robert Siegel of “All Things Considered” included. No, he doesn’t have a friend he thinks would be perfect for you, but he is telling you how to set yourself up for dating success, rather than dating fail.
Siegel isn’t alone; it turns out that “online dating coaches” are in such demand that they’ve become a legitimate career field. The ultimate bit of advice they’ve had to offer: stop thinking you’re going to meet the perfect person right away. Instead, just get a first date.
Which isn’t really my issue. My issue is that I don’t really want to delete the online dating profile I have out there – I like being able to take the site’s quizzes every once in a while, when I’m feeling particularly bored. And anyway, it’s not like I’m going to get in trouble for still having one. I just want to play up the fact that I’m quite happily spoken for, thank you very much. Apparently some people just don’t quite get that message.
