Better start swimming, or you’ll sink like a stone.

You’ve heard the news by now. If you’ve got any sense in you, you’ve jumped up and down a couple times with some sense of excitement or frustration. No one, it seems had it in them to stand still last night.

And yes, I’m as relieved as anyone else to just know that Bob Garfield only gets another week to talk about election coverage.

Still, my favorite public radio piece on the results has not been the “now what?” or the “The GOP Got the Thumping We Deserve,” but instead this post, from WFMU, that reintroduced me to one of my favorite soul songs of all time, Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.”

The title for the best version posted is a pretty hotly contested race between the original and the Otis Redding version. But Otis – God rest his soul – could do very little wrong.
