Today was Blog Action Day - by today, I mean Wednesday, as we usually post late at night for the next day. (I post late at night; Kerry posts at a sane time.)
As our observance, we’re telling you about a story about poverty. One that will make you cry, because not only is it about poverty, it’s from Story Corps, the Smithsonian’s mobile oral history project/plot to take over the world through harnessing the energy in tears.
We don’t have to tell you that the economy is not the best it’s ever been. “Planet Money” will do a better job of that.
But hard economic times mean hard economic tales. Full of can-do spirit, defeat, and hard-earned values. And crying. Less, in this case, as it’s a clip from “Talk of the Nation.” Neil Conan keeps even the serious talk light-hearted and easily digestible.

And a minor programming note: R/S will not be updated on Thursday night, and there will be no OTM Highlights on Monday. Kerry and I will be out of town, and too busy to keep this up. Take care; we’ll resume posting as normal early next week.
