I keep singing “Secret Cheney Man! Secret Cheney Man! He’s sending you to Gitmo, and obfuscating the blame!”
Why do I keep singing it, even though it has meter completely unlike the original’s?
Because I have nothing better to do.
Also because Dick Cheney thinks he’s not part of the executive branch, and so has made no attempt, no pass at leaving the documents of his office to the public.
Never mind the stupid closed-record problems this causes, never mind the fact that this means that we’ll probably never find out which laws he broke (though I’m pretty sure we know a few); this is just stupid. I know the Vice President serves as President ex officio of Senate, but it’s remarkably stupid to claim that the VP’s ability to cast a tie-breaker means that he’s more a part of the legislative branch than the executive.
Well, maybe not stupid, exactly, but it’s certainly sleazy.
Brooke, in talking with Anne Weismann, from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, manages to drive this point - that Dick Cheney may be the sleaziest vice president ever - home with enough force to actually splinter the wood.
It’s occassionally a joyful experience for me to hear someone else as angry about flagrant offenses as I am. Today, I am filled with glee.
As for the phrase, “the Avalanche of Dumb,” it came from the segment in which Bob covered the story of how United Airlines’ stock crumbled this last week because someone forgot to check dates. Don’t worry, it’s almost back up to usual now. Sort of. It’s still stupid.
I don’t remember where I downloaded that cartoon; I’ve had it for some time. If someone wants to figure out a citation for me, I’d love it.
I’m leaving out a lot here; I dozed off while writing this week, so: this week’s recap was written by Matthew, and glanced at by Kerry on Monday, after it was posted, because she went to bed early, leaving Matthew up, alone, to write the recap, though he too was terribly weary and lonesome.
