If you read last night’s post on army fashion, you probably gathered that we watch a lot of “Project Runway” (and if not from that, then you surely noticed all the instances of one of us typing “make it work!”). And last night, Matthew and I watched the fantastic, campy, shark-jumping season premiere of “America’s Next Top Model”.
That said, we’ve both been enjoying NPR’s miniature political fashion week. Today, “Morning Edition” had a very informative story on First Lady Fashion.
As with most women’s fashion, First Lady-wear is not without its contradictions. You want to be accessible and casual, but not too casual, and heaven forbid you’re even the slightest bit overdressed.
It seems a little unfair. Sure, male candidates are judged on their attire, but that usually happens once, in the pages of GQ.
As always, NPR has included photos – one of Michelle Obama fist bumping on “The View”, and one of Cindy McCain in some shiny yellow leather. Personally, I agree with Vanity Fair – Michelle Obama is wonderfully put together. I’m sure she looks glamorous when she’s doing yard work.
Anyway, NPR and Washington Post fashion editor Robin Givhan are hoping for some “significant fashion moments”. Me too. I really wish Tyra could give someone a Top Model makeover.
Also tonight, we’re watching McCain’s speech and tweeting about it right here.
