In the last week or so, NPR has launched “Monkey See“, a new pop culture blog written by Linda Holmes. I’ve read the first few entries, and it seems to be off to a good start.

Ms. Holmes was a former Television Without Pity writer, which gives me great hope, as I love TWOP’s scathing recaps of “America’s Next Top Model” and “Project Runway”. Though I’m not sure if she recapped any of the shows I love, her NPR bio says that she did write about both “High School Musical” movies, an assignment that probably pushed her to look for other work.
The blog is alright so far, and several things that I love get some attention (ahem, “Gossip Girl” and Rainn Wilson). Weirdly, the blog’s name is explained at length in two separate posts, one involving a Venn diagram.
So, Linda, keep up the good work. Your style is good, and you seem clever. I’d like to see more multimedia (videos, music, interviews with people, live dogs wearing wigs), but I’m sure it’ll come with time. I really hope you’ve checked out the late “Bryant Park Project” blog, because Laura Conaway did an awesome job with it and it would be nice to have something like that again.
And um, if you ever need story ideas, we’re right here.
