Home from work, and This American Life saves my life.

I need to apologize for the lateness of this post; I just got home from work.

It was my first day, um, unpacking books for the Rhodes College bookstore in anticipation of their fall rush. Thank God my first day wasn’t a fiasco.

It should have been. All of the employees were locked out of the bookstore for over an hour while one boss was at home, sick in bed, and the other was tied up in traffic coming across the bridge from Arkansas.

Power, apparently, went out today across Midtown Memphis, but we didn’t notice at all in the fenced-in safety of the private college.

Here’s to those of you who get to listen to your own choice of radio at work; I was stuck with a very bizarre mix of the crappiest music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and today. Don’t ask me what happened to the 90s in that mix. I did hear some Hootie and the Blowfish around noon, but other than that, the decade was conspicuously absent.

If you can listen to what you want to listen to today, I do, once again, recommend enjoying the two things my day could have been: “First Day” and “Fiasco!” from “This American Life.”

That is all.
