If you’ve been reading or following us on Twitter for a while, you’ve probably noticed that I’m not a huge fan of American Public Media’s “Marketplace.” There are somewhat good reasons - I sucked at economics on both the high school and college level, and it always sounds like Kai Ryssdal is making finger guns at the microphone.
But yesterday, I managed to catch an entire episode, and I have to say that the show is maybe, possibly starting to grow on me.
Yesterday’s show was about the same as always, I guess - prices are high, we’re having an energy crisis, and the newspaper industry is failing.
However, there was one story that stood out - a story that while simple, confirmed everything I’ve known about Kai Ryssdal all along.
For the good of the people, Kai subjected himself to the scrutiny of body language expert Carol Kinsey Goman.
Surprisingly, Kinsey confirmed what I had only thought to be true - Kai is arrogant (or at least in meetings he is). Granted, this interview doesn’t reveal anything particulary new or revolutionary about the way people communicate, but having my suspicions confirmed was nice.
Also from yesterday - a story on the most awesome summer camp ever. If I had kids, I would totally sign the waiver that says that participation in the camp could mean injury or death.
