The Scientist’s Tie: a Cautionary Tale

scientist’s tie

Tip: to increase credibility, do not look ridiculous.

Take, for instance, Professor Bruce German, seen above taking a leisurely stroll with Bryant Park Project producer Dan Pashman. Though he looks positively fascinating, with the way he waves his hands around, the pants are too high, and thus the tie (which is too wide already) appears too short.

The effect: I barely paid any attention to him when he was trying to be a rational meeting point between two ideological extremes regarding raw milk in this video and story by Pashman.

One thing must be said: Pashman produces his segment and approaches his subject in a fashion that seems to parody  alarmist local television news exposés more effectively than anything else I’ve ever seen.

I should also mention the PowerPoint feud between the FDA and a pro-raw milk Web site. Hilarious.

So kudos, Dan Pashman, for not looking ridiculous but realizing your subject kind of is.
