Today was a busy day for public radio. There were loads of interesting stories, Frank Deford described his “fertile handicraft years“, and the BPP had to deploy an Emergency Krulwich.

The Emergency Krulwich was about one of the perks of working for the federal government - naming things after yourself! One caveat - the U.S. has this pesky rule stating that before any monuments bear your name, you must be dead. I wonder if this counts.
Also on NPR today, Julie O’Hara preaches the benefits of breakfast like it’s food pyramid day in health class. I would say that she preached like my mom, but my mom’s idea of a nutritious and satisfying morning meal was a glass of Carnation malt flavor Instant Breakfast while she tried to keep my grubby little hands away from the newspaper.
And just in case you weren’t listening carefully today, here’s a bit of what you may have missed.
-Apparently, itches can get so itchy that people will scratch through their skulls and right into their brains. Ew.
- Forget hypermiling and turn up some songs that’ll make you drive faster.
- How adorable is this - goats rescuing turtles.
That’s it for Tuesday’s rollup. If anyone can get their hands on one of Frank Deford’s summer camp handicrafts, I’d love to display it in my home. A potholder would be especially useful, but I suppose some god’s eyes couldn’t hurt.
