Alt.NPR’s “Love and Radio” brings the tawdry substitute for love.

A while ago, Kerry wrote about what might be our shared favorite episode of any radio program ever, “Strip” from the alt.NPR podcast, “Love and Radio.”

Just, uh, I’m putting all the links after the jump, because it’s possible that some of these links might fall on just the other side of NSFW.

Since the first installment of “Strip,” Nick from “Love and Radio” has begun taking calls from listeners in need of relationship advice, answered less with the sage wisdom of a Dan Savage than with the bizarre and beautiful sound design of Ken Nordine - even if there are Dan Savage soundbites dropped in to this bit of sound (though I didn’t recognize them).

I’m not entirely sure what the general consensus of the advice for the caller concerned about his girlfriend’s weight is, but the sense is that relationship advice is no more valid when crowdsourced than when put in the hands of a random stranger, like Savage, who is, essentially, a sex pundit.

A sex pundit, I have to say, is the only good pundit.

The - ahem - meat of the episode is taken up with the real sequel to “Strip.” Whereas the original dealt with what happened at the (defunct) Memphis strip club, Platinum Plus, the new installment deals with male strippers, and may prove more awkward than the original.

I have to say, however, the original contains what Kerry and I have to agree is the best moment in sound design EVER. (When you listen, pay attention for the “Carmina Burana” section.)
