I’m supposed to be finishing this week’s recap of last week’s “On the Media” right now; I’m in no mood for that right now.
It’s a beautiful day outside. Also, we had an earthquake earlier today (dig the New York Times‘ story and accompanying graph, and note that I’m moving from blue to red earthquake risk in a few weeks). I slept through.
It’s been a big morning. A lot has happened already.
I remember 10 earthquakes in Indiana in my lifetime, and I haven’t felt a single one. I’m either sleeping through or gone or in the car. Part of me is bitterly disappointed that I missed this one too. So New Madrid, here I come.
And there’s something pretty big that just happened for us. You may have gathered from the previous post, but we’ve been interviewed by NPR’s Bryant Park Project, and I’m still shaking with glee the way I should have been shaking during the earthquake. You should follow these links to read AND listen.
So if I do this week’s recap at all, It’ll probably end up being the rare weekend post we try to avoid, so as to not set that precedent. Also, Bob just issued a statement via the BPP: “My relationship with Brooke is the Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name.”
I know its name: Rumplestiltskin.
May I have my firstborn back now, Bob? Thanks.

Yo! Congratulations on the interview!
At the end of the show, when he says “Brooke”, Bob Garfield’s voice does modulate down in such an endearing way. You have me convinced.
Kerry, your depiction of Carl Kasell was hillarous!
Good choice of songs. Great way to end the segment. Good luck!
I listen to an extraordinary amount of radio every week — and I must tell you that you guys made my week on the show this morning. If you’re ever in New York, stop by and I’ll buy you guys a round or two.
@Matt Martinez I’m sure you do, so that’s pretty flattering. I’d be glad to hit you up for that round, if/when we get out that way.
Just to increase your travel options, I’d like to offer you a couple of rounds on me if you are ever in the San Francisco/ Santa Cruz area. I listen to a lot of radio, too, even though I am not the producer of an NPR show.
@E and Matt Martinez - similarly, if y’all are ever in Memphis, we’d be glad to take you out!
